I Like Thyme With Chicken....

I have had some back pain today. Just a little more than I find tolerable (although The Husband claims that I am a man when it comes to tolerating pain.)

I went to the first aid box at the complimentary therapy clinic where I work, hoping it might contain something to ease the pain.

I found a collection of Bach remedies, some arnica (gel and pills) and a bunch of thyme. I took the Bach remedy for 'disappointment' and went to Boots for some Nurofen.

My back was much less painful as a result. Please don't tell my colleagues.

PS. I was joking about the thyme.

What are Bach remedies?

I found out last year that I'm allergic to Nurofen. I found out by injuring myself and hence having a need for painkillers. As long as the pain is tolerable I'd rather avoid taking them anyway - but these days I don't have the choice otherwise I could be risking all sorts of potential nastiness. Ho hum.

Anyway before I start rambling on about such things, I hope your back gets better soon.

Hey Ms M, I would've been disappointed too, am glad you got some Nurofen. When you have significant pain, you need anti-inflammatories, you need pharmaceuticals, I don't care what anyone says. x

Hey trousers, go here for a description of Bach remedies. I'm not a cynic, but they just don't hit the spot for back ache. I rarely take pain killers, hence the need to go and buy some, but when I do I really, really want them to work. Poor old you. You are stuck with the arnica and the bunch of thyme.

Hi lovely nmj, yes, today I needed an anti-inflammatory. I really did. I shall have a good massage tomorrow, and hopefully that will put it right.

You should be a stand-up comic Ms M. - really, you should. Once you can stand up again of course ...

I agree with nmj, when it really hurts you need Drugs.

Poor you though ... back pain sucks. Sending you cyber-heat-patches and gentle hugs,

Sx

Oh funny Stray! As you well know I actually couldn't stand up this morning. But thanks for the vote of confidence x

enidd thinks it sounds as though the bach remedy for disappointment actually worked, though. she may try to find one for "that vague sense of ennui that sets in at 4pm when it's not evening but there's not really enough time to start a real project." do they do one for that, do you think?

Ms Melancholy said...

Hey enidd, good to see you here again. Wonderful! I think you may have a new game here: what would you like a Bach remedy for? I would like one for that feeling of frustration that I feel when I decide to have a 'lie in' on a Sunday morning, end up having a fitful morning's sleep and then get up feeling like I have wasted the best part of the day and regretting the lie in which wasn't that refreshing anyway. Do you think Dr Bach could do one for that?

enidd's not sure, but if they do, she'd like some too.

A Bach remedy for career drift, please!

I used to use rescue remedy, but it didn't work at all. Is that Bach?

Bring on the nurofen. Bring it on.

Off topic here, but guess what I've gone and bleeding done...

Hope the back improves soon. I so agree that sometimes only a good pharaceutical hits the spot!

*waves at trousers*... what have you done?

Ms Melancholy said...

Enidd, honey, will let you know if I find one.

Hey trousers, career drift: excellent. And on the same lines, how about one for the irritation felt when Life Coaches tell you 'you can do whatever you want to do'?

Hey Cas, yes, rescue remedy is Dr Bach. It may not work, but I quite like the taste of it (alcohol?) so I carry some anyway.

Ah, lovely Pants, I am most fond of the cello suites myself. And yes, more soothing than essences in alcohol any time.

Oh, trousers, YOU HAVE A BLUE NAME! And we all know what that means: lovely trousers has gone and got himself a blog! I am super pleased. Everybody go and visit trousers!!

Hey Angela-la-la, you have the most wonderful name, by the way. You surely must win a prize for being the first to comment on trousers' blog. (And best of luck with Post of the Week, by the way. For anyone who hasn't yet read it, Angela-la-la has come up with a belter of a post. Go read it.)

"The Husband claims that I am a man when it comes to tolerating pain"

But most women tell me that if their pain threshold was that of men, they'd only ever have one child...?

Ms Melancholy said...

Hey Pumpy, I only have one child....x

I had a Bach remedy to supposedly make one relaxed. Tbh, I just found it addictive; probably not a good thing. Hope your back is ok now? The thyme with chicken seems a bit random, but a lot of things do to me atm, having not really had a whole lot of sleep.

Ms Melancholy said...

Hi Katy, yes it was a bit random. I blame the nurofen. I wonder if there is a remedy for randomness?

random?
I suffer from a lot of back pain due to a car accident when I was a child. When it happened I was in pain for a while but after I healed I had very little trouble until I was 15 and my muscles started to develop, I started getting a lot of lower back pain and have suffered with it ever since. That is until recently when I stumbled across memory foam mattresses. They adjust to the shape and weight of my body to support my back perfectly and let me sleep soundly. I can’t even imagine being able to sleep without my memory foam mattress anymore!
