You Know You Are Getting Old When......

.....you don't mind getting stuck behind a slow moving farm vehicle on your way home because it makes it easier to bird watch and drive at the same time.

.....the fact that you can download a Hilary Clinton ring tone from the PM blog makes you want to write a stiff letter of complaint about dumbing down. To Radio 4 and The Times (and you don't even read The Times.)

....you think who is that nice man talking such common sense? before realising it is John Major, the man who famously ran away from the circus in order to become an accountant.

All of which happened to me yesterday. I grow old, I grow old, I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled....

I get it. I like getting stuck behind a slow-moving farm vehicle just so that I don't have to drive fast. I've never thought of bird-watching as a pleasant side-effect.

Oh, so glad you get it Charlotte! I don't even try to overtake any more. We have red kites on the moors, and they are so soothing to watch.

I never throw out shoes as "They'll do for the garden". That's a sure sign...

What I wanted to write here was in direct reference to age being a state of mind or perhaps that corny thing about being only as old as the person you feel(!)
You quote Prufrock and I give you smut! Perfect.

I have the same feeling about John Major - very worrying indeed.

Eek. Yes, John Major ... I read or saw an interview with the Spitting Image team in which they said that their absolute destruction of Major was one of the scariest moments - far more frightening than any line-crossing they did on controversial issues was the fact that they could bring down a government using a skit about the prime minister and his wife eating peas.

As for getting old ... aren't you due a birthday? Don't worry about getting old - I think you'll look particularly good in purple :)

Hey Missy M, it's a slippery slope for sure.

Hi lovely Caroline, I would be rather disappointed if you didn't come up with some smut, honey. Please don't ever disappoint x

Hi jean, I know! I know! When did he start talking such sense? Really very scary indeed.

Hey lovely Stray, I am indeed due a birthday, and I made a wish for a pony so here's hoping. (Mind you, have been wishing for a pony for the best part of 30 years so I'm not holding my breath. And I do not own any purple. And I'm not that bloody old either, so stop being cheeky...)

oh Miss M, counting the years is such an arbitrary system. Its sooo yesterday to worry about your age. I slow down to 40 k on a particular stretch of road for koala spotting, but why does it have to be a sign of oldness? The kids actually get into it too.

Couldn't it just be a sign of one-ness with the world or something like that? Someone who's had bhuddist training might have another word for it ...?

mind you I can't explain away the identification with John Major speeches. I haven't actually heard any of them but he looks very rod-up-the-back doesn't he. Or has he become more bohemian since he quit politics?

Hillary Clinton ringtones?

I've taken to avoiding the LA freeways and merely doing surface streets so that I can drive at a slower pace. I'm turning into a granny driver.

I live on the Lincs/Notts boarder, I'm surrounded by farmers and narrow country roads.

Of course some of us have places to go. I wouldn't mind, if wasn't for the fact that the thoughtless bastards do it during rush hour.

Grrrr. Agggghhhh!

Psychotherapy is a general term referring to therapeutic interaction or treatment contracted between a trained professional and a client, patient, family, couple, or group. The problems addressed are psychological in nature and of no specific kind or degree, but rather depend on the specialty of the practitioner.
